Deep Waters
Isaiah 43:2
This passage is marked in my study Bible with a date in 2010. As I was studying to write this lesson, I came across this mark. This was long before I embraced bible art journaling and began to be more free in my writing and drawing in the margins, so this was significant for me at the time.
During that time, my marriage was struggling. My husband was under-employed as his company had just closed. We had 3 little mouths to feed under the age of 5. I had not slept in years and was running on empty 99% of the time.
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you." (Isaiah 43:2)
I can tell you that those deep waters we passed through in 2010 are nothing compared to the storms we have weathered since then. Perspective does that. What we thought at the time was our end, was really just a tiny little blip in our timeline.
Today's deep water is far deeper, darker and more unknown then ever. I can stand on this same promise, just like I did 11 years ago. Nothing is going to drown me, even if it does feel like it at times. I am able to continue to walk through this fire because God is with me.
Think about your deep waters, your unknowns. Is all deep water dangerous? Are you holding yourself back from going deeper with God? Pastor Steven Furtick has said, "God takes you to deep waters, because your enemies can't swim." What does that mean to you?
