Lessons from the Sea-Part 3

Safe Passage

Zachariah 10

If you wouldn't mind, take a few minutes and read this chapter. You can type it into biblegateway.com or just on your Bible app. If you are old school, like me, you can find it in the Old Testament with the other minor prophets.

Did anything jump out to you? I see lots of names and cities and some crazy symbolism to study, but here is a quick rundown of what I got out of it.

*Ask for rain since this is symbolic of God's blessing (v.1)

*Only fight when the Lord is with you. (v.5)

*I will be strengthened, saved, and brought home because God has great compassion on me. He will answer me when I call. (v.6)

*My children will be glad. (v.7)

*We are redeemed, a theology word for being compensated for all our faults, paid for by the blood of Jesus. He paid our ransom to deliver us from the law of sin equals death. (v.8)

The verses I want to focus on now, are found in 11-12. "They will pass safely thought the sea of distress for the waves of the sea will be held back... By my power I will make my people strong, and by my authority they will go wherever they wish. I, the Lord, have spoken!"

I would like this verse to exclude the sea of distress part. This is another verse that reminds us that we will have to overcome the things that come against us. It is a given that we will have distress. BUT these are the very things that God uses to strengthen us.

Do you allow the sea of distress to overshadow God's protection?

Ask God to give you strength and give him the authority in your circumstances.
