wound (noun)- an injury caused to living tissue caused by a cut or a blow.
I have been hemmoraging for years. Bleeding from a wound that never seems to heal. I stuff things in, trying to stop the bleeding, but it does not work. Of course, no one can see my wound. This is what happens with a psychological wounding.
This week, is the start of a new season. A season of healing. Unfortunately, in order to heal, all the dead tissue has to be cleaned out first. I had no idea that God would decide to deal with this issue for me through Bible college. The layers of generational wounding is being peeled away and now the time is here to let the Great Healer do the deep debridement.
Currently, I am in week 1 of 7, for Psychology of Marriage and Family. I assumed this would be an easy class for me. I took Marriage and Family eighteen years ago at community college before I got married, and since I have spent the remaining time practicing trying to have a godly marriage and raise godly kids, I would be well prepared. I am assuredly academically capable of handling this workload, the problem is the wound.
The time has come to clean the wound out. To do the hard work and get to the root of the issue. I have to face the injury that I have let affect my view of God, the ever-loving-Father. My professor knows my story, and shared with me that what I will have to face in the coming weeks will be some of the most difficult work I will do in my life. She should know, she was a marriage and family counselor for 20 years!
Wounds stink, the smell bad, the fester and they cause pain which can be overwhelming at times. I am looking forward to getting this particular wound closed up, so it doesn't hurt me anymore. This doesn't mean I will ever understand why people do the things that they do, however, I will be in a place where their actions (or inactions) no longer can get under my skin.
King David shares with us in 1 Chronicles 28:20 "...Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly." Paul then tells us that "For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple" (1 Corinthians 3:17). It is time to courageously go into this work of healing and repair the wound in this temple once and for all.
