Question

Recently, we were going through some old boxes that belonged to a family member that already is with Jesus, and found a unique metal tag. It was with POW, military and other medals, and was written in German and had Auschwitz stamped on it. So many questions began swirling around my head of who this could have belonged to and what was his story? Who is going to tell this story?

I am primarily Jewish. I have done my DNA and while I knew I was both German (related to the royal family through Queen Victoria's oldest grandchild) and Jewish, this was made very clear by the test results to be a factual statement. I have spent much personal time studying the Jewish culture, both from a biblical and a historical perspective. Jesus was Jewish, so we should consider the customs and traditions of the people and the time that he lived in, in order to better understand why he said and did the things that he did while on earth. It is only in this questioning and digging deeper we can discover the true meaning of the celebrations, the healings, and the miracles.

I consider the plight of the Jews now, and in the more recent past, like during the last World War. How was it possible that followers of Christ did not stop the evil against God's chosen people? How is it that we are doing the same thing today? Is it so easy to forget the covenant promises, that those that bless Israel will be blessed and those that curse her will be cursed (Genesis 12:3)?

I am doing the Yeshua fast with Lou Engle, and the primary focus has been to pray for the Jewish people, that they would find the messiah and that the Gentile church would become passionate once more to see the Jew's saved. This has been my heart for nearly a decade, as I have been leading and teaching our family to observe the Jewish feasts and to understand what our heritage means in light of our Christian faith. This has provided great opportunities to question what God is doing now, how the Holy Spirit is moving in the global church, and what is my role in it all. How would the world look if the Jewish people, the chosen people of God, rose up and took their place? Where do you want to stand when that day comes?
