Time to Fight

Today’s wake up call came in the pre-dawn hours. Between 3-4 am if I wake up, I know it’s God prompting me to intercede. When I began reading the Word this morning I was called to: “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12).
I don’t know if you are aware but we are in a war. Literally the fight for our very souls. I don’t know why I thought it would be easy, or why I am surprised when I am constantly attacked. Jesus warned us we would have trouble, but we can always take heart and have courage to stand because he has overcome the world (John 16:33).
I told my children about 2 weeks ago that every single time we leave the sanctuary of our mountain, I feel like I am going into the battlefield. So as good soldiers we must equip ourselves for war:
Helmet of salvation Breastplate of righteousness Belt of truth Peace bringing shoes Shield of faith Sword of the Spirit
This is so we can stand firm, hold our ground, persevere against all odds. Then we are to pray all the time, with perseverance and make intercession for the saints (Ephesians 6:10-18).
My word for 2020 was perseverance which means: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
You can’t make this stuff up. Every single time we turn around there is difficulty in our daily functions due to restrictions on our constitutionally granted freedoms. It is very likely because of our personal convictions and beliefs, we will be outlaws in the very near future.
And yet God says...
Fight the good fight Stand firm Stick with it Don’t give up Stay alert with all perseverance Pray without ceasing
So I continue to count it all joy when I face trials on every side because it is developing in me the endurance to become mature and complete-lacking nothing (James 1:2-4). And I can continue to give thanks because it is God who gives us the victory and this labor will not be in vain (1 Cor. 5:57-58).
